Hebrews 11: 33-34

2 Samuel 8: 1-15

Daniel 6: 16-22

Daniel 3: 16-25

Hebrews 11: 6

In the list of the people of old who believed in Jehovah as their God, who was worth worshipping, the names cease, but the intervening acts of Jehovah continues. The One who could rescue, protect, provide, who cared about them throughout their lives, who loved them, called them, and revealed Himself to them in this life, also revealed to them a salvation, and the resurrection to come.

Hebrews 11: 33-34 Continuing: …”and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, V. 34. “quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, and put foreign armies to flight.”

2 Samuel 8: 1-15 Records the kingdoms conquered by King David of Israel. The Philistines, Moab, Zobah, the Arameans, cities of Hadadezer, Hamath, and Edom, taking tribute from them, and he administered justice and righteousness for all his people.

Damiel 6: 16-22. “The king gave orders and Daniel was brought in and cast into the lions den…and Daniel, in the morning answered, ‘The LORD sent an angel and shut the lion’s mouths and they have not harmed me.'”

Daniel 3: 16-25. “Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego…were tied up and cast into a fiery furnace, (probably designed for firing bricks), v. 24. and the king said, ‘Was it not three men we cast into the midst of the fire?’ They replied to the king, ‘Certainly, O king.’ He said , “Look, I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the forth is like a ‘son of the gods’.” (1 Corinthians 8: 5, “For even if there are so-called gods whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many gods and many lords, yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things…”)

From Abraham, to the Judges, to the Prophets, the list goes on telling of the power of Jehovah, and the men who had faith in Him who was faithful to them, supernaturally bringing acts of righteousness into their presence, saving them, sustaining them, and delivering them from adversity. (Micah 6: 4-5)

This faith that is spoken of is not an unrealistic hope, but a revelation from God that He is, and that He is truly trustworthy, bringing blessing, and grace, and peace, lifting one up, and establishing a personal relationship with them. Hebrews 11: 6 “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God, must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
