Psalms 99

1 Kings 8: 54-65

John 3: 31-36

A picture is being displayed in these three passages that reveals the majesty of Jehovah.  Starting with Psalms 99 we are introduced to the vast greatness of Jehovah as reigning in Heaven above, while we on earth tremble at His might.  He is above the angels by so far that the earth shakes, not just men, or buildings as in a storm, but the entire earth.  He is great in the Holy Mountain Zion, (Moriah , where Jerusalem sets), all the people of Jerusalem are to sing His praise, and praise His name, YHVH.  The strength of the King is in justice, equity, and righteousness for Israel. Holy is He, exalt and worship Him.  He has chosen Moses, the deliverer, Aaron, the priest, and Samuel, the prophet, they worshipped Jehovah by calling on His name and He answered them.  He is forgiving, and avenging of our enemies.  Holy is the LORD, worship Him.

1 Kings 8:54-65  This is the dedication of Solomons Temple.  It is a great building that is permanent in Jerusalem, as opposed to the tent tabernacle of Israels wandering days.  It contains all the proper elements of that tabernacle yet is expanded to a larger degree with side chambers that are three stories tall, and two pillars of bronze that stood on the front porch that are 24 feet tall and five feet in diameter. It is stunningly beautiful.  At the dedication of this massive structure, that had an unbelievable amount of gold overlay in it, Solomon kneeled before the LORD with arms stretched toward heaven, and cried out “But will God indeed dwell on the earth?  Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain You, how much less this house which I have built!”  They then brought so many animals for sacrifice that it took 14 days to offer them all.  So many that they had to expand beyond the official altar, and start fires all over the outer court to offer them all. This was a huge celebration in honor of the greatness of Jehovah.

John 3:31-36  John writes of Jesus, “He who comes from above is above all, (I mean He is really, really above us, He is from the heavens), he who is of the earth is of the earth, (we think earthly thoughts, we speak earthly concepts, we understand earthly things, we are temporal, we are earthy), He is way above us in all things.  What he has seen and heard He speaks to us, and no one gets it, it too far above us to be grasped fully.  It is out of our earthly reach, he that begins to understand and attains to His word, has had the Spirit reveal those things to him, accepts the truth and has sealed it to himself, he believes that Jehovah is true.”  John 3:18 ” He who looks beyond the surface, (Isaiah 53.2) ‘for he has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him,’  and sees the beauty, the depth of character, the love of Messiah, and believes in Him is not judged, but he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has revealed that he only sees with earthly eyes, and cannot see heavenly things.  He cannot, or will not see what is above, what is real, what is majestic, what is Godly.  This man by choice, pride, or rebellion sees only through eyes of clay, and has not believed in the beauty of Christ and the heavenly realm.”

Friends, Jehovah is real, His word is true, by grace the Savior has come, by fthis is truth.  In this world today what was absolutely normal behavior two months ago is being reported as suspect and maybe even criminal.  We must seek permission to worship publicly, and that with restrictions on it,  small business is being destroyed, winners and losers in business are being chosen, we are isolated from each other, and to say it’s the new normal is an understatement.  I believe we are in the last days, maybe verging on the time of tribulation, yet my hope is in the Lord.  The reality of the Word of God is sure, and the first resurrection is close at hand.  Therefore gird yourself in the armor of the LORD!
