I Peter 4:7-11 (NIV)

Peter speaks to people of faith in a difficult time.  It is a time of chaos, suffering, and persecution for Christ-Followers.  He reminds them that the Lord will return, writing, “The end of all things is near.”

But what to do until Christ returns? How then shall we live? Peter teaches that there is a way to live in praise of God in every time.

We should pray, love each other deeply, offer hospitality to each other, use our gifts to serve others, speak as if to speak the very words of God, and serve with the strength of God.

Why live this way? “So that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”

Notice, Peter talks about loving and serving each other as followers of Christ and serving beyond the community of believers to those who are unchurched.  Beyond the church we are to “use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace…”

God wants his grace to flow through us to others.

Let’s pray and live this day, this week, always so that the grace of God will touch our church, community, and world.
