Psalm 3 (NIV)

Habakkuk 2:4-11 (NIV)

I John 5:1-5, 13-15 (NIV)

The good news for this day is that God delivers, sustains, and rescues, his people.  God promises that “the righteous will live by faithfulness” (faith) in him.

Psalm 3 tells the story of God caring for David during the rebellion of his son Absalom.  It was a terrible time when the nation was torn by civil war.

Habakkuk 2 speaks of God’s promise to rescue his people from their captivity in Babylon.

And when we turn to the New Testament we are reminded that faith in Jesus overcomes the world; the temptations, the troubles, the tragedies, that inevitably come in life on this earth.

” for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (I John 5:4-5)

So let us put our faith in the One, Jesus, who has overcome the world.  Jesus said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world!” (John 16:33)
