Exodus 33:13 The Message (MSG)
12-13 Moses said to God, “Look, you tell me, ‘Lead this people,’ but you don’t let me know whom you’re going to send with me. You tell me, ‘I know you well and you are special to me.’ If I am so special to you, let me in on your plans. That way, I will continue being special to you. Don’t forget, this is your people, your responsibility.”
Prayer for some of us is something along the lines of I need, I want and in all honesty sometimes is something that looks like a shopping list. For some people in the Bible prayer had a different dimension. Something along the lines of bargaining, something along the lines: God this is about you, you can’t let me fail it is your name at stake.
When I read those prayers, I am reminded that I need to be bold and confident in my prayers because God is God, and when I pray I step not only in the throne room but also in my father’s living room where authority meets love and grace.
