II Corinthians 1:8-11 (NIV)

II Corinthians 1:8-11 (The Message)

There are times when life implodes, the pressure is overwhelming and you begin to wonder how it is even possible to endure such things.   Here Paul, shares that kind of experience and how devastating it was for them, “so that we despaired of life itself.”  Nevertheless, he goes on to indicate that there is one to whom we can go; one on whom we can set our hope. In such times, we should not “rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.”

It’s so good to know that God delivers those who suffer and that he raises the dead.  Here we also see how significant the prayers of God’s people are for those who know trouble and suffering.  “You and your prayers are part of the rescue operation…”
