The other day I was thinking of personal faith vs. communal faith; and during that meditation I start thinking that when we focus on faith as an exercise of our mind, we miss the faith we find when we commune with God, when we walk along side, when we try to see the world with that bigger lens.
Today I want to share with you a prayer by Origen that seems to capture that deep desire for God:
Jesus, my feet are dirty. Come even as a slave to me, pour water into your bowl, come and wash my feet. In asking such a thing I know I am overbold, but I dread what was threatened when you said to me, “If I do not wash your feet I have no fellowship with you.” Wash my feet then, because I long for your companionship.
