Perseverance is easier to think about and talk about, which is fine, than it is to actually live it. Some things are worth our pursuit and perseverance and other things are not. Certainly, persevering in the race of faith is worth everything.
Thank God that Jesus persevered in his love and grace for all the world. Thank God that Jesus suffered even unto death to serve the best purposes of God completely and faithfully.
What are you doing in your life that is worth your perseverance, your very best? What are you about in your life that the Lord does not want you to quit?
May you persevere with joy as Jesus did. We can be encouraged by the Lord Jesus, Savior, Suffering-Servant, the Pioneer and Perfecter of Faith.

Not only do I like the “run with perseverence” part of this passage, but also “fix your eyes on Jesus.” To use an analogy from running in a race, in order to persevere and finish a long race, one needs to fix their eyes on a visual goal, a landmark of some sort, in order to keep pushing through fatigue, sore muscles, or whatever ails a runner in a race. If I can just reach the next intersection…if I can just get to that light pole up there…the finish line is in sight, so I’m going to push it to the end now…I can make it.
To be successful in life and persevere, as this passage says, fix your eyes on Jesus. If we can just keep getting closer to him, we can push through the fatigue and pain we sometimes (or maybe often) feel and achieve the goals we hope to achieve.

I don’t know about anyone else, I’m uncomfortable matching my living skills against those of Christ – the definition of human perfection because He was divine. In other words, if He and I were to have a contest catching footballs thrown by Tom Brady, not one would hit the ground even if everyone was fully inflated. I would drop several, I’m confident, even if the Patriot’s equipment manager purposely under inflated all of them by a significant. His hands are perfect, mine not so much! My point is Christ’s perfectly persevered because He was/is incapable of anything less than perfection at everything. Ourselves, we are not perfect, commonly referred to as sinners. Therefore, our perseverance is not perfect. Nevertheless, we should do the best we can (1 Cor. 9:24-27).
